Reflecting the Neighborhood

Reflecting the Neighborhood

Stereotypes and preconceptions can be damaging to a new business, but Seward Community Co-op in Minneapolis, Minnesota, proactively took that challenge head-on when it opened its new Friendship location. Staff took time to listen to neighborhood concerns about the co-op’s affordability and perceived elitism, which led to the creation of a store that serves the specific needs of the community. Seward puts its members first, proving that sometimes an open ear and a willing mind are all that’s needed to build something great. #ourcooperativestory

There really is a sense of “we’re here together; this is about cooperating.”
